Boplaas Cape Vintage Reserve 2019
About The Wine
The 2019 Boplaas Cape Vintage Reserve was crafted from a trio of old vine Portuguese varietals, hand harvested at optimal ripeness and fermented in lagars with intense manual pigeage to extract optimal flavour, colour and tannins prior to fortification with wine spirit and matured for two years in old large format French oak barrels before bottling unfined and unfiltered.
The 2008 vintage is concentrated and viscous – dense dark fruit, with cassis and chocolate nuances on the palate. Peppery and grip from firm yet ripe tannins with integrated spirit.
This massively complex wine should be accompanied by a fine selection of cheese, cured meats, nuts and dried fruits, and fine coffee and cigars.
