While some may ask “What’s in a name?,” Sother Teague is onto something tasty and truly sustainable with this vodka recommendation: “Good Vodka from Good Liquorworks is doing good things! They’re taking a fermentable fruit, cascara—the exterior of the coffee bean, something that otherwise would be thrown away—and they’re distilling vodka from it, which I think is genius!” With tasting notes of cocoa and tropical fruits, a savory, earthy aroma, and a rich, creamy body, this is a vodka that rewards curiosity—as Sother suggests, “Why not do some good while being bad?”
Vogue Magazine says: “Sweeter than I expected, with pleasant undertones of dark fruit…[it] makes almost frighteningly delicious vodka tonics.”
Production Notes
Tens of millions of tons of coffee fruit are discarded every year. In fact, the production of a single pound of coffee beans also produces five pounds of waste.
Not only can these byproducts harm the environment (they typically get diverted into rivers), but they also present a problem for coffee bean farmers, who have to manage this waste.
Good Vodka uses that discarded fruit, an elegant repurposing that creates something new, lovely, and delicious.
Working closely with the Colombia Coffee Federation, Good Vodka sources the raw ingredients for its distillate – the discarded ripe fruit – from small coffee farms in Colombia and ensures local farmers are fairly compensated for their efforts.
Every batch of Good Vodka tells you where and when it was grown.
Good Vodka is the first release from the independent company Liquorworks, founded by distillers Tristan Willey & Mark Byrne in 2015. They spent six years researching the product and developing the supply chain that allows them to produce Good Vodka ethically and sustainably. Their mission is to develop new, climate-positive spirits from overlooked agricultural byproducts and novel ingredients.
