Redbreast 12 Year Irish Whiskey
About Redbreast 12 Year Irish Whiskey
The definitive Irish pot still whiskey, the standard against which all others are judged.
Redbreast is aged a minimum of twelve years and is beloved for its sherry like creaminess in the mouth. It is somehow both smoother and more complex than other Irish whiskeys.
For more than a century, Midleton Distillery has been crafting this particular style of whiskey, drawing upon its 200 years of distilling tradition, know-how, and innovation. Redbreast is simply a must-try for any whiskey lover.
“Whether you’re looking to try your first serious Irish whiskey or in need of branching out, this Redbreast 12-Year fits the bill…We’re big fans of the Redbreast distillery because they’re staunchly traditional. They’re the best-selling single pot Irish whiskey in the world, producing rich bottles since 1857. As with most high-quality Irish whiskeys, this stuff should be enjoyed neat or on the rocks. If you want a cocktail, we suggest using a different bottle.” – Rolling Stone
Tasting Notes
The nose is simultaneously nutty and fruity with a good deal of spice. The palate is full-flavored and complex, silky smooth, extremely balanced with spice, fruit, sherry, and toasted notes. Warm, coppery malt, caramel and hints of chocolate on the long, slow finish.
Suggested Serves
- Neat or on the rocks, no cocktail required
Production Notes
As with all Irish whiskey, Redbreast is made using a mash bill of both malted and unmalted barley. It is triple-distilled in handmade, copper pot stills, then aged in a combination of first-quality seasoned ex-bourbon and sherry casks. Finally barrels that are aged a minimum of 12-years (but many that are much older) are blended together to create something that has a distinct and unique character in the world of whiskey.
